Looking for a space for readers dedicated to community and sustainability? leaves is just the place, with two locations in Brooklyn, New York. Their Greenpoint store is open daily, and their second location in Bushwick is appointment only - they’ve got some rare finds. They collect and sell a wide variety of books, spanning many genres from radical literature to artist books, but have a focus on books by female and LGBTQ+ authors. Zines, magazines, posters, broadsides and other ephemera will be shown alongside their more prized books at the Northampton Book Fair on Friday the 21st and Saturday, the 22nd of November, 2025.

leaves was started by Francisco Hernandez after he ran a bookstore for his former employer, Alabaster Bookshop for some years and he wanted a project that was more youth-focused, a space that would bring in the perspective of young people to the rare book world. His background in running a bookstore set him up well for opening leaves in June of 2022. Hernandez went to Wesleyan University and studied philosophy where he grew to love literature through his studies. After studying under another bookseller, he was able to run Alabaster’s, and now he has leaves where he can create the space he has always wanted to make.

The books that the team at leaves is most excited about bringing to the fair are the first paperback of The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell and a first edition of The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt.
